Disposable or washable

Disposables are simplest for house-training a puppy. Washable pads cost less over time and produce no waste, which matters for a dog with an ongoing need.

Using them well

Put the pad in one consistent spot, away from food and water, and do not move it around while training. A holder or frame stops a puppy dragging and shredding the pad, which is the usual complaint. Leaking usually means the pad is too small rather than faulty.
