Choosing between a collar and a harness

A collar is fine for a dog who walks without pulling and is the right place for ID tags. A harness spreads pressure across the chest, which is the safer choice for toy breeds, flat-faced breeds and any dog who pulls.

Materials

Leather softens with wear and lasts years. Nylon and webbing are lighter and easier to clean. Beaded and crystal pieces are dress items rather than working walk gear.

Sizing

Neck measurement for collars, widest chest measurement for harnesses, then check the chart on each listing. Two fingers should slide under a fastened collar.
